Is there anyone out there?

This month we address an age-old question: are we alone in the universe or do we live in a universe brimming over with intelligent life --- or is the truth somewhere in between?

We have an article by Craig Ward about the SETI@home project, which is allowing many NSS members to participate in the search by using their home computers, while Terry Hancock presents some interpretation of extrasolar planets research, showing that planetary systems like ours may be somewhat rare.

We also have the promised third and final installment of Bob Gounley's series on attitude control, and the next edition of Diane Rhodes' Surf Report.
